That worked. Although I was a little worried after 20H2 finished, because there was another KB with a 20H2 update, and the Conexant Driver was back. Everything has applied successfully, so it's solved. This Works! Update starts and stops a few times Workiing fine now two days post -op. Thank You! Maybe I spoke too fast. Glad I don't use that function on that machine. Excuse my ignorance but how can I retry the update without rebooting?
If there are any "other" updates queued up, that require a reboot, you may need to clear those out first. The trick seems to be to remove the drivers, and with the 20H2 update next in the queue, run it then. If the system reboots anytime after the driver removal, they just get reinstalled. Is there any chance that the ones like me can upgrade to "Version " before the Win 10 October release? Was this discussion helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Was this reply helpful? It's unfortunate indeed. I have got some good news.
After trying for a few days, I myself have successfully got the update offer by windows update. Although I had to do some tinkering with my Conexant driver situation. But eventually, I got the update offered through Microsoft windows update. I had to uninstall my Conexant audio driver and replace it with a generic Microsoft audio driver that usually will get install if there is no audio driver present but Windows will try to install the appropriate OEM driver; in this case the Conexant audio driver through Windows update.
For that to prevent I had to place a registry block which did prevent windows to install the Conexant driver. After that, I had to wait 02 days before Windows update offered me the update. The update install was smooth. Interestingly right after the update windows did install back the Conexant driver that was deemed incompatible for the version. How windows could install the Conexant drivers despite having a Registry blocker? Well, version install reset any change made prior to the install.
Even being incompatible with the version, the Conexant drivers did not result in any BSOD Blue Screen of Death , crash, or any issue what so ever. But I did uninstall the Conexant driver again, placed the same Registry blocker to prevent further attempts to install the driver again by windows update.
The reason for this is that Microsoft is set to release the next Cumulative Update to which is called "Version 20H2" this October, and unsurprisingly Conexant drivers are also incompatible with Version 20H2. And I don't want to be blocked from upgrading once again. Now for over a week, I'm using version with Microsoft Audio drivers and the experience is the same as it was with Conexant drivers.
I don't fee any difference with Microsoft drivers in terms of sound quality. Plus it's an added benefit that I won't be blocked when the next release becomes available.
I have a question, where did u find the info about the registry to block the automatic installing of Conexant drivers? There are two different method to get the job done: 1. This method basically does the necessary Registry Modifications for the user. But if followed carefully, is nothing to be worried about. Windows OS Hub woshub. It is not such a big issue about "pending install", but I wish to understand, is it a installing problem with hardware or software all devices working correctly, no any problems that I did notices.
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Fresh install of , deleted the audio device, reinstalled the audio device rebooting when necessary , installing different versions of the driver for various sources I have done the same procedure without luck.
I noticed that the conexant update will disappear from "hide" list after "some" general windows updates. After that, I rolled back my bios to an earlier version and installed older audio drivers. I remembered that my computer on the earlier built, had two applications installed from the older audio driver. Windows won't try to reinstall conexant media endlessly anymore. This thread is locked.
